28 White dwarf-main sequence binaries identified from the LAMOST pilot survey

We present a set of white dwarf-main sequence (WDMS) binaries identified spectroscopically from the LAMOST (Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope, also named Guo Shou Jing Telescope (GSJT)) pilot survey. Based on the so far largest and most complete SDSS DR7 WDMS binary catalog, we develop a color selection criteria and identify 28 WDMS binaries within the LAMOST pilot survey. Except one DB white dwarf, other primaries of our binary sample are DA white dwarfs. For 10 of our binaries, we derive the stellar atmospheric parameters, masses and radii for their two components. We also provide the cooling ages for white dwarfs, as well as spectral types and radial velocities for the companion stars of these 10 WDMS binaries. These binaries tend to contain hot white dwarfs and early type companions. Through cross-identification, we note that nine binaries of our sample have been published by the SDSS DR7 binary catalog. Nineteen spectroscopic WDMS binaries identified from LAMOST pilot survey are new. Using the 3σ radial velocity variation as a criterion, we find two post-common-envelope binary (PCEB) candidates from our WDMS binary sample.

In July,2013,the significant research paper has been accepted in the well-known  international astronomical  journal Astronomical Journal.
